Hi.

Welcome to the latest art to emerge from the contemporary visionaries as seen through the eyes of Platinum Cheese.

Alexandra Manukyan "Beautiful Disaster" @ CHG Circa

Currently on view at CHG Circa is a solo exhibit from surrealist painter Alexandra Manukyan entitled "Beautiful Disaster". The exhibition features fifteen new oil paintings that presents an intriguing mix of the artist's traditional dark enigmatic style with a lighter “white” series that captures the light, yet still connects with our darkest hidden desires. Influenced by Renaissance technique and composition, Manukyan respectfully rebels by allowing her female subjects to dominate and reclaim their environments by juxtaposing modern styling with classical memento mori portraiture conventions. The outdated and sometimes religious traditions normally represented in this style of painting are symbolized by the archaic medical equipment and awkward fashion-fetish accoutrements that only hope to bind Manukyan’s tattooed modern heroines.

"Beautiful Disaster" is on view at CHG Circa through April 12th. Be sure to visit the gallery to catch the works in person. In the meantime, enjoy some images below courtesy of the gallery.
