Sally Deng 'No Luck Good Luck' @ Antler Gallery

Los Angeles based artist Sally Deng grew up in a dual existence between living for months at a time in China and traveling back to LA where her parents owned a diner in the downtown area. This presence of opposites is a constant theme in Deng's work. It's in these thoughtful environments where harmony is achieved between polarized elements.

In her latest collection of work No Luck Good Luck currently on view at Antler Gallery, Deng continues her exploration of duality. Humans and tigers are depicted co-existing peacefully together - sometimes as companions at rest, other times as part of the work force. Colorful ghost-like figures inhabit some the works as if hinting of a presence prior to the current scene. Overall the work is a beautiful portrayal of unity between man and beast, past and present.

No Luck Good Luck is on view through Aug 22nd at Antler Gallery, 2728 NE Alberta Street, Portland, OR 97211, www.antlerpdx.com
