This Saturday, Project Gallery will present an innovative collaboration exhibit entitled "Emerging Alchemy". This multi-faceted exhibit fuses the talents of photographer/cinematographer Thomas Fryd and international street artist/designer Mikael B. The Danish duo have merged their juxtaposing techniques to create beautifully balanced compositions. The 15 canvases that emerged from this blend of medium and style originated from Fryd's Homorphology series, in which he creates eerie unlikely combinations of human body parts. Having this concept as a foundation, Mikael B added depth with amorphous bursts of color, resulting in graceful yet surreal images. In addition, two of Fryd's creations are brought to life through sculpture, fabricated by Pretty In Plastic studio, and then painted on by Mikael B in his signature style.
This exhibit embraces how artistic opposites can collide and produce an exquisite outcome. It makes you wonder, what may at first seem incompatible, may require a very subtle alchemy to compliment one another. "Emerging Alchemy" will be on view through June 11th.
