On March 15th, 35 innovative artists explored their favorite pop icons as Corey Helford Gallery presented "Pop-Eyeconic", a group exhibit featuring an array of paintings, sculptures, and mixed media works. The artists were given creative freedom to portray their most cherished childhood icon in their signature style, thus providing a diverse collection of work for art enthusiasts to enjoy. Some works had a more literal take on the show title as with Michael Mararian's "Lil' Popeye" and Meggs "Whas The Matter Whichta?" by drawing inspiration from the cartoon classic. Others captured each artists' essence like with Natalia Fabia's rendering of Jem complete with sparkles and dripping in pink and Nate Frizzell's Disneyland magic come to life. Enjoy a few opening night photos below courtesy of the gallery, but be sure to stop by Corey Helford to view the art in person if you're in the Los Angeles area.
