In celebration of their new location, Last Rites Gallery unveiled a group exhibit on March 8th entitled "Last Rites" with over 40 of the gallery's beloved dark artists. The concept for the show (as well as the gallery) hearkens to the last prayers and ministrations given to many Catholics shortly before death. The macabre connotation of this term fit not only the dark nature of the artwork Last Rites is known for, but for the rites of passage one experiences with the associated imagery. From the last breath depicted in Billy Norrby's oil painting to Chris Haas' bone sculptures alluding to decomposition, each artist delivers a unique translation of the theme while simultaneously provoking questions on the afterlife.
