On March 15th, Corey Helford Gallery will present their first group show of the year entitled "POP-EYECONIC - An Exploration of Popular Iconic Characters". Taking inspiration from famous artists who infused their artwork with pop culture, 35 talented New Contemporary Art Movement artists have been asked to compose a piece highlighting a pop icon that resonates with a personal significance. The artists will render them in their particular style and place them in situations relating to their usual subject matter. A contemporary perspective will encourage viewers to be reminded of their own connection with pop icons, adding a "timeless cultural significance and statement to each work and creat[ing] a snapshot of the icon’s relevance to the New Contemporary Movement". Artists include Aaron Martin, Ben Frost, Bumblebee, Carlos Ramos, Chris Anthony, Colin Christian, David Stoupakis, D*Face, Eric Joyner, Hikari Shimoda, Jennybird Alcantara, Joey Remmers, Kinsey, Natalia Fabia, Korin Faught, Lola, Luke Chueh, Meggs, Mia Araujo, Michael Mararian, Mike Stilkey, Nate Frizzell, Paul Frank, Peter Gronquist, Pure Evil, Richard Oliver, Robert Xavier Burden, Ron English ("Flint Toned" shown above), Sarah Folkman, Sas Christian, Josh Agle aka Shag, Shark Toof, Soey Milk, and Tom Bagshaw.
