Moody atmosphere is of the essence in the work of Los Angeles based artist Esao Andrews. With Victorian characters in iconoclast settings beautifully depicted through antiquated imagery, Andrews' world evokes haunting emotion that immediately enchants the viewer. In the vein of 19th century masters like Klimt, Schiele, or Mucha, Andrews blends Gothic grotesque, erotic, and surrealism to transport us between reality and the darker half of our unconscious. Recently, Andrews debuted a new body of work with Thinkspace Gallery at SCOPE Basel in Switzerland. In this collection, he continues our journey of a mysterious Bohemia but this time around with a more autumnal palette.
