On March 26th, in conjunction with the Southern Graphics Council International's 42nd annual conference, Modern Eden Gallery will be opening its doors for a new exhibit entitled "Traditions & Taboos". This group show will be presented and curated by Paul Mullowney of Mullowney Printing and Andrew Fingerhut of Raking Light Projects. Contemporary tattoo artists will be working in traditional print to highlight the parallel between the two art forms. Copper etchings of tattoo illustrations will put a spotlight on "the outrageous and inventive artistic styles of today’s top contemporary tattooists while paying homage to the long history of traditional techniques, democratic image making and distribution of printmaking media." If you're in the San Francisco area, make sure to check out Modern Eden for the contemporary crossover of tattoos and printmaking. Tattoo artists featured are Tim Lehi and Jeff Rassier from Black Heart Tattoo in San Francisco, Steve Boltz, Bert Krak, Eli Quinters, and Dan Santoro from Smith Street Tattoo Parlour in Brooklyn, Horitomo from State of Grace in San Jose, and Don Ed Hardy, Mary Joy, Jen Lee, and Kahlil Rintye from Tattoo City in San Francisco.
