On February 16th, New Image Art debuted Paul Wackers second solo exhibit with the gallery enititled 'Early Romantics', which includes 12 new paintings along with his largest work to date. The exhibition continues upon the artist's juxtaposition of geometric forms and nature reminiscent of 17th century Dutch and Flemish still life painting. As Wackers' raw painting techinique mimics the nature of the objects, his still lifes take on a three dimensional quality where the items are placed in the foreground often times against lush foliage. The highlight of the evening was 'Matter', an eleven foot painting featuring seven shelves of nick-naks. The proud display of mementos are reminders of our admiration for 'things' that serve as a connection to loved ones or past events.
'Early Romantics' will be on view through March 30th, so be sure to check out the works in person.
