'Go Figure' group exhibit @ Spoke Art NYC
Jessica Ross flexes her curatorial muscles once again as she presents 'Go Figure' this month at Spoke Art NYC. The group exhibit features the work of sixteen artists who have a sharpened sense of minimal design and are unified by a timeless subject - the human figure.
From the curator, 'I want to propel the way illustration is viewed in the art world, specifically in a gallery setting. While many of these artists come from a commercial background, I think it's important to give free reign to explore their own practice, without the constraints and demands of client-based work. This show is meant to be a kind of expedition into the personal side of practicing illustrators, a set of work exempt from prescription, free to exist within a four-walled space.'
Participating artists include Teryn Brown, Evah Fan, Dan Gluibizzi, Hell'o, Jason Jagel, Dan-ah Kim, Lisa Laubreaux, Harriet Lee-Merrion, John F. Malta, Moonassi, Sean Morris, Santiago Salvador Ascui, Winnie Truong, Andrea Wan, Bryce Wyner, and ZEBU (above).
'Go Figure' is on view February 4th-26th at Spoke Art NYC, 210 Rivington St., New York, NY 10002, www.spoke-art.com
