Copro Gallery was transformed into a sinister church on October 26th as Chet Zar presented "Ego Death", the highly anticipated exhibit featuring the funeral of Black Magick. Guests dressed in their best gothic funeral attire came in droves to pay their last respects for one of Zar's most iconic characters. The evening was jam-packed with ghostly surprises including a funeral procession, coffins, hearses, a living dead organ player, plus Zar's characters in the flesh. Also on display was the artist's latest body of work representing various aspects of the Ego. With titles such as "The Purge", "Self Doubt/Self Pity", and "The Haunting", each painting serves as a metaphor for the human struggle to move beyond one's self. Most notable however was a large scale portrait titled "Ego Death" gathering a band of Zar's characters encircling a single floating figure in deep mediation.
