If you haven't had the chance to view Nicola Verlato's 'Zero Gravity' at Merry Karnowsky, this is your last week to do so. And we strongly encourage that you do. In Verlato’s newest series of paintings, the artist defies the laws of physics with his brush while simultaneously creating catastrophic change. He illustrates intricate and incomplete narratives without mercy for resolution. As the supreme deity in the universe of his paintings, Verlato revels in the beauty of turning a world upside down. If gravity is the force that keeps us in our places and stoops us in supplication with the passage of time, then through his paintings, Verlato benevolently grants us “the illusion of liberation from the most constrictive of all the physical laws”.
